Evening all,
Welcome to another addition of CN news the best place
to see what happening in the world or Duke and Wireplay.
well what a busy week been busy practising for the likes
of Tribes..1st match this week and action quake which up
to yet we are doing well with 3 games 3 wins :)..So lets

this month making a total of 782 removed so far.

CONGRATES TO BAD BOY
Congratulations are in order this week for Bad Boy
or is that bad bot as it always seems to come out
when i'm trying to type fast on-line.. :) for making is
CN 50th tourney..prize on its was shortly and just for
you a HISTORY OF BAD BOY:-

Bad Boy this month became one of only 4 cn
members to enter 50 tourneys (under one name :))
he first entered on the 10th June where he went
out in the first round to N ME 10 - 0. It wasnt until
3rd July that he actually went through to the 2nd
and 3rd rounds beating Sir Blaizeheart 10 - 8,
Groovebandit 10 - 5 before losing to Lillymonster
7 - 0.

In November he entered the hof under the alias
of Cortex where he beat Dr monkfish 10 - 0 before
finally going out to Dollar bill 7 - 0, his hightest cn
rating under this name was 8.00. However is
was under BB that he entered the xmas tourney
where he was knocked out in the 2nd round be
Chaos.

It was in January when he first came up against
his brother Bad Brad in a tourney in the 2nd round
he was down 2 - 0 to his bro when Brad quit the
game he progressed on this occasion right into
the loving arms of H3rbal R3m3dy he lost 7 - 0.

It was also in January where he started entering
the first of 4 tourneys under the name of Duke
King UK his first game ended in the first round
but it was with a very good score against a
very good player Oddity beat him 10 - 7. It
was also with this name that he got his best
ever cn rating 8.25 the top rating with his BB
handle is 7.62 which he has achieved this month,
his lowest rating was 2.5.

It was February when he got through to the 3rd
again this time Fizzle put pay to his first final
hopes beating him 7 - 3. It wasnt until March
that he reached his first semi finals he beat
Rebel dtu 4 - 3, Oxygen 2 - 1 and Daisi 5 -4
before Dirty Den despatched him 7 - 0.

However shortly after March 12th he reached
his first ever final beating along the way Dukester,
DJ mouse and Tarzan1 and although he lost
to Kazoop in a final marred by crashes and lag
10 - 0 he still rates this his best every tourney
performance.

Infact Bad Boys game has continued to improve
his most recent achievement reaching the semi's
by beating Pace 10 - 1, Keds 7 - 4 and Greens
4 - 0 before Gunwhoopyer beat him 7 - 0.

His prize tourney career has been short he went
out to Dirty Den in his first in August 7 - 0 in the
2nd, Gravediggaz beat him in Septembers 10 - -1
and Pipster put him out again in Februarys
10 - 1.

Bad Boy wins himself £10 for taking part in
half a century of tourneys.

Lag and Crashing..
You may have read the piece i put in last week trying to
get feedback about the problems with duke and new wp.
firstly thanx for those of you that replied and the info will be
sent to the lab ppl...

Now wireplay labs have admitted that some of the
lag may be coming from there end due to increasing
popularity of Wireplay and strain on the servers but more
have been ordered and these should be online soon.They
did seem genuinly interested in looking to sort the problem

From the chat i've had with them and what i've seen its
not all coming from wireplay side and we need to work
together to see if we can help the problem and keep duke
and the duke club going strong..

the problem seems mostly being generated from new players
.now if i play ppl i played before the change then i get no
lag and the games are running fast but get one new player
in and its lagsville...why??

The labs ppl say there could be a few things that may help
and i would ask ppl involved and please take note as this may
help...

if you running a lower spec machine and a slower modem
then make sure you not running programms in the background
like active desktop now wireplay is internet based these could
be sucking power from where its needed turn everything off you
can.

If at any stage you think you may have altered con files then
either reinstall duke ,if you can't,then mail me and i will send
you them.just tell me which you needThis is not really lag
related but can cause unexplained crashing

What next..
Well heres the plan but i need all your help to see it works..
If you experiencing lag but dont know why..as youve done
the above then e-mail me and we will arrange to meet on-
line.reason..now i always seem to get a good connection
so if it runs fine then we know that its not you causing the
prob but maybe ppl who you are playing on a regular basis.
If its laggsville then you may have a setup problem..

If this is the case then i'll send you a questioinaire which
you may fill in,modem,pc etc etc..which i can send to the
labs to see if there is a common problem..I thought it might
be the new client as ppl who have completely downloaded
it seem to have probs but ppl who just patched up there old
version get much less lag..the labs didnt think this was
possible but it would be interesting to find out...

So it you know someone thats having laggsville or you
yourself are having probs then follow the above if no
joy then please e-mail me and i with wireplay will try to
help..but we must all work together or duke will never
improve.

I still need help with my TC, artists, soundfx, con
hackers (AI needed), and builders welcome. I have
kept my project a secret, but now that I know that I
will be able to release something like I want to do,
I will tell you what I'm doing:
1.) Making a multiplayer TC, with the best DM, CTF,
and TEAM levels (any good ones?)
2.) Adding Capture the flag and team play to duke
(need some (AI) hackers)
3.) adding real ladders to duke. (done)
4.) Make it able to play over WP and hopefully use
it in special tourneys.

TOURNAMENT RESULTS FOR WED 19TH MAR

There were a few aliases on tonight and unfortunatly
there was also a fair amount of problems with
games crashing and bad lag ingame, I chose
Farenheit as the first lev. The first person to quit
because of the lag was sw captain Snelling,
D Saunders went through, next was Sprint he
quit his game with Reb coco and last to quit
was Daisi after an unplayable game against
Keds. Greens was once again involved in the
closest game of the round Phslicer beat him
4 - 2. U Got (an off putting name that one) beat
Ukslicer in the only other game affected by the
time limit. Pure Hoopey got yet another bad tie
he got and lost to Mr Box although he did manage
to get 4 kills off him, all the rest won their ties easily
they were Bad Boy, DS Moogz and General Stavros
they beat XrockoX, S o n y and XEJ.

D Saunders and Bad Boy had major probs in their
second round tie D Saunders eventually going
through 2 - 1, likewise there were problems once
again in Reb coco game with Mr Box, Reb going
through 1 - 0 when mr quit. Thankfully the other
two games ahd no probs Phslicer beat Keds 7 - 6
in a very good game while the disconcerting U Got
was beaten by DS Moogz 7 - -1, General Stavros
had to leave the tourney at this point.

Onto the semi finals and Phslicer won his way to
his first ever final beating Reb narrowly 2 - 0,
Ds Moogz beat his opp D Saunders 7 - 0.

Phslicer let Moogz pick the lev no prizes for
guessing which lev then Holly it was, Moogz
won easily in under 10 mins 10 - 0 well done
to both.

GUEST TOURNEY REPORT FOR FRIDAY 21ST

Tonight was a good night considering the abuse
etc I was expecting…. Absolutely no arguments!
We had 25 willing dukers on tonight and the
results are as follows:

1st up was a personal vendetta match between
PACE and DJ DERRIQUE…. they both asked
me if I would let them play….so I made em happy…
PACE won 10-0. FIZZLE got a tough opp , he
drew MOOGZ out of the hat….MOOGZ won that
bout 10-3. TNT MONKEY got BOOGIE and TNT
came through 10-0.U GOT was up against a newbie
called JOHNA ACE , UGOT won 10-0. DANATH
was up against PIKTO…however PIKTO refused
to play so DANATH won 10-0.JO GUEST was put
up against BOSS…however JO had to leave due
to work commitments so BOSS won 10-0. We had
some big wins tonight. UNREAL beat his opp
NAZARETH 7/-3, and another big win was SPRINT
Vs K23, SPRINT won 6/-4. BADBOY won his game
against PURE HOOPEY at 10-4.
The closest game in this round was between KEDS
and PHSLICER. KEDS won 3-1. There was
supposed to be another game between
DEMONSTONATOR and OOP…however both
players failed to come back and report the score
so I ignored that game.

Round 2 was a messy round with various
players DISAPPEARING!As DANATH got a bye
and TNT was 1st back these 2 were set out to
kill eachother. TNT won 10-0.UNREAL was put
against PACE . UNREAL won 7-1…...well done
PACE.BOSS was put against KEDS. BOSS
beat KEDS by 4-0…
SPRINT was set up with BADBOY ,SPRINT won
this game 4-1.Now comes Hudini’s accomplices….
MOOGZ and U GOT…..1st of all MOOGZ
disappeared…..so I thought he’d quit …like he
normally does…but then I heard a .’DAISI U FREAK’
indicating MOOGZ was back..so I had to bring
U GOT back from round 3…..to play MOOGZ…
I got them both settled and wadda’ ya know !
UGOT disappeared!..so I unfortunately had to
put MOOGZ through to the 3rd round.

TNT and UNREAL were the 1st to play…
UNREAL won 6-0. Then MOOGZ and BOSS
were up ..MOOGZ beat him quickly and efficiently …
10-0. In the meantime…SPRINT and BADBOY
were playing…..or something like that….anyway….
the 2 semi finalists MOOGZ and UNREAL were
made to wait atleast 40mins..before SPRINT
and BADBOY returned…(I think that must be
some kind of record!) SPRINT beat BADBOY 4-1.

The semis was a 3way thingy….so I had to give
SPRINT a bye to even it all out.. At that point…
MOOGZ did what he does best and argued…
he wouldn’t do a 3way semi…so he quit..
So the final was between SPRINT and UNREAL

This final was awful with wp's new service and
it took us 3 attempts to get a game that actually
worked! The guys decided on LA as the lev
UNREAL beat SPRINT 10/-4 in about 5mins
of actual gameplay..I think that score equals the
record of best tourney win when MOOGZ beat
me 10-4 on rabid transit.

Thanx to all players for behaving…and a general
good conduct. Well done to all.
